Done with religion does not mean done with God. It is because of God's gift of grace that we are done trying to please God by performance. We realize the Church is the body of believers and not a place we go. Religion tells us our relationship with God is based on how well we follow the rules and how well we perform. Done with religion means we no longer submit to rules and regulations but live a life of love for God and one another because of his grace. We want to take our eyes off personal effort and performance and focus entirely on Christ, realizing we are one with Him. ------- Jim Gordon is a writer and contributor for Done with Religion. Jim writes along with Mike Edwards and Rocky Glenn about living for God in a non-religious way. Jim grew up being part of the methodist church for several years, then was part of several non-denominational churches over the next few years before leaving the system. He and his wife, after many years in the organized church, have been living for God outside the walls of religion and the traditional church. They live in the central Ohio area.
